As for the fifth American salads, you can't really beat a Cobb salad. This is the salad I ordered most often in restaurants, after Robert Howard Cobb, the owner of a restaurant whose scraps were scrambled late one evening. Why? Because I know it's naturally gluten-free (even though I always check it twice), let's be delicious, filling and honest… because it has bacon.
Cobb salads are protein-filled salads including baked chicken, boiled eggs and bacon. This means you'll be staying full, and this salad can only be considered an appetizer or side salad, not a full meal.
If you prepare chicken, eggs and bacon in advance (you know I'm a food preparation fan) it's incredibly easy to make this salad.
It's just adding lettuce to a bowl and filling it with the ingredients listed below. And when you don't have to put all the ingredients in the line like I do, it's always fun and good to serve in this way. Perfect for a dinner party!

Ingredients in Cobb Salad
What about the Cobb salad? There are 7 classic ingredients in Cobb salad:
Lettuce: I use a combination of lettuce and green leafy lettuce, but you can also use watercress, chicory or iceberg lettuce. Cobb salad is usually a mixture of greens, so feel free to use your favorites.
Bacon: There is a very divine side of putting crispy bacon on the salad. When cooking a few slices of bacon, I always bake bacon in the oven (I highly recommend it). Easy, no mess and fuss.
Chicken: You will need to consume spices to make a great chicken for your salads! I added plenty of herbs to my chicken for this extra burst of flavor. In fact, the first meal I made in my prep video is the oven-cooked chicken.
Hard Boiled Eggs: Let's say 12 minutes hard boiled eggs are standard. But I boiled the mine a little less in 11 minutes, so the yolk was softer. Watch my video about making the perfect hard boiled eggs (and look at the egg chart) to choose your favorite time.
Tomato: I cut the grape tomatoes in half, but the cherry tomatoes would be great. In both cases, I make sure my tomatoes are bite-sized so that I can find all the ingredients on a fork well.
Avocado: If you haven't noticed, I love avocado. Naturally, it is anti-inflammatory, fiber-filled and healthy fats add a full cream to the salad.
Blue cheese: No Cobb salad is not complete without blue cheese! In fact, there are several different types of blue cheese. You may have heard of the very strong taste of Roquefort (France) or the lighter Gorgonzola (Italian). Choose whichever you prefer.
What is the Best Dressing for Cobb Salad?
Traditionally, the Cobb salad is served with red wine sauce and this is what I use today. Light and fresh! Since this is a hearty salad, ranch sauce and other cream-based sauces can be a bit thick and heavy, so stay away from them.
Is Cobb Salad Healthy?
Yes, Cobb salads are healthy and naturally low carb and keto friendly. The warning is usually portion size. Since there is too much protein and fat (from avocado and blue cheese), there may be insidious calorie bombs. Just be sure to stay in a standard serving size, you'll be fine!

How does microwave cooking work?
