Slow Cookers Shepherds Cake Recipe

To me, St. Patrick's Day is the beginning of spring. Here at Blue Ridge, we usually see fresh green buds, then they come out for the first time ... and I've been wearing short sleeves at least once or twice until March 17th.
Although these are small successes (they can be called success), I always feel that I have an extra reason to celebrate Saint Paddy's day.
Lieutenant Dan and I had lunch at Saint Patrick's Day in a local Irish Bar.
We have continued our tradition of lunch for nearly 20 years. We eat beef and cabbage salad and laugh at the memories of Saint Paddy's Day from the past. Then we come home and prepare a hearty Irish-inspired dinner for the whole family.
Shepherds Pie is a classic Irish dish I will never get.
I agree, the traditional cooking method may seem intimidating, because there are countless steps and components. However, our Slow Cooker Shepherd Pie Recipe takes a few steps, allowing you to "set and forget" until the day of the dinner.
Slow Cooker When making the recipe, I combine all the "stew" ingredients in a casserole. Instead of the dark-colored Guinness Beer, it offers rich depth and Irish charm, replacing the wine or broth in many recipes.
I'm filling the stew with pre-made mashed potatoes. I usually make a mashed potato of a meal earlier in the week, so I don't have to do this before I put the shepherd pie. But in a pinch, the quality store bought mashed potatoes will do the trick.
The most important step in this Slow Cooker Shepherd Pie Recipe is to place a long paper towel over the slow cooker before covering it with the lid. The paper towel absorbs most of the condensation from the lid and prevents the potato from flowing.
When we are ready to eat, sprinkle with cheddar or Dubliner cheese over the potatoes and let it melt.
Place the chopped onions in the pan over medium heat. Soften for 5-6 minutes. Meanwhile cut the meat into small bite-sized pieces.
Pour the remaining ingredients except the hot onion, beef and mashed potatoes and cheese in a slow pot of 6 liters. Spoon with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and mix well. Wipe the sides of the slow pan with a dry paper towel. Then spread the mashed potatoes to the top of the beef mixture and stick on the following ingredients.
Place a long paper towel over the pot to cover the vapor and cover the lid. Turn on high for 4-5 hours or low for 8-10 hours.
When the service is ready, sprinkle the cheese on the potatoes and put the lid back for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese. If you have them, serve hot and decorate with additional herbs.

This is delicious! I forgot to buy peas and I didn't put corn in it. Instead, I used a sliced ??white mushroom in an almost complete package. They didn't make the recipes so watery as I was afraid. The husband went berserk about food. It was great! Thanks!!
I followed this recipe to the letter. It tasted great, and although everyone loved it, the mashed potatoes received a little stew. Then add Josh to the potato or finish the stew in the slow pot, then add the mash on it, put it in an oven and turn brown on the broil and finally the Dubliner (big touch, everyone loved it!). I just made the recipe for this casserole and for some reason it turned out terrible, 8-10 hours wildly burned and there wasn't enough fluid. I've made 2 lb of meat, I don't know if this is a problem.
Hi Grace - Oh no! I am so sorry for that! Hmmm merak I wonder if the slow cooker flows a little in the heat. (They can all change. I have three slow cookers and I try to base the recipes on the most moderate basis.) Have you noticed that other dishes are cooked faster than recommended?
Hi, Katie! Hmmm .... I've never seen anything like it! Does it need to be screwed or can you just loosen the cover loosely? You can probably place the paper towel over the slow cooker, then place a baking tray on top if necessary.
