These Lazy Cabbage Rolls are filled with traditional flavors such as onions, carrots, tomato sauce and of course cabbage. The cauliflower rice is the normal rice for this low carb, it makes the whole30 and paleo a great bottom.

These rolls are a quick and easy way to enjoy cabbage rolls without the actual roll. I prefer plain and tasty food, and these rolls fit the bill according to both criteria.

Another reason why this recipe is such a winner is that it is full of vegetables. My classic stuffed cabbage leaves call the rice (cooked in bone juice, nothing else happens!) And usually found in most cabbage rolls. To avoid these particles, cauli rice adds excellent flavor and texture to these rolls.

But if you are a fan of rice, do not hesitate to use cooked rice instead of cauliflower rice to mix meat and vegetables. No need to sauté. For extra nutrition, cook the rice in bone juice.

These Lazy Cabbage Rolls are filled with all traditional flavors such as onions, carrots, tomato sauce and, of course, cabbage. Enjoy these rolls with some whipped cream or a thick sour cream. To keep them milk-free for the Paleo and the whole 30, homemade mayonnaise, thinned with the preferred milk, produces a wonderful drizzle.


In a large pan, heat the healthy cooking oil over medium heat. Saute the onions until they are soft and translucent (about 5 minutes).

Add the carrots and sauté for another 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce and heat over high heat. Cook for a few more minutes to thicken the sauce, stirring often.

Reduce the heat to medium. Spoon half of this onion carrot sauce in a bowl and set aside.

Add the chopped cabbage over the sauce, which is still in the pan, and cook for 4-5 minutes to soften and release the juices. Add cauli-rice and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove the heat and allow to cool.

Heat the preheating oven to 425F. Release half of the separated sauce on a 9X13 casserole dish.

In a large mixing bowl, combine poultry, sauteed vegetables, eggs and spices and mix well.

Take 1/2 cup of meat and vegetable mixture and turn into rectangular meatballs. Spread the remaining sauce evenly over the cabbage rolls.

Cover and cook for 45 minutes. Remove the lid to fry for 5-10 minutes (watch carefully) to reduce liquid and toast the tops.

My husband and I are making strict diets and this recipe fits the bill uy we both enjoyed it very much and will definitely do it again.

I used the tomato sauce, but I could use the spaghetti sauce for extra flavor. This is a great idea but doesn't necessarily make low carbohydrates due to the sugar content in traditional spaghetti sauce.
